Lady Cats Finish Second

The Holy Cross College women’s tennis team survived three days of tournament action and in dong so captured their first-ever New England Tennis Championship on Sunday.

The Crusaders dominated the tournament winning two of six singles championships and one out of three doubles championships.

Holy Cross made the finals in seven out of nine brackets.

Brittany Burns and Carrie Simmons won their singles championship and the duo of Brittany Burns/Jianna Chew won the number three doubles flight for the Crusaders.

Vermont came away with second place, highlighted by Laurabeth Halter and Alie Taylor, who won their individual singles championships in the number two and six flights respectively.

New Hampshire finished a close third, highlighted by Jess Pasay, who won the number five flight singles championship, and the duo of Lensey Dixon/Jenny Witter, who won the number two flight doubles championship.
