The Fleming Museum Presents: Lou Reed

The Fleming Museum and Borderline Irreverent Productions announce a rare performance by the legendary leader of The Velvet Underground, Lou Reed. The concert is an extension of the Fleming Museum’s public programming for the exhibition Andy Warhol Work and Play, which recently brought Warhol collaborator and poet Gerard Malanga to the Fleming Museum and will present poet and Warhol “Superstar” Taylor Mead on April 13. Warhol collaborated with The Velvet Underground during the mid-1960s in a multimedia extravaganza billed as The Exploding Plastic Inevitable. This historical collaboration was the Museum’s impetus to invite Lou Reed to the University of Vermont campus.

Reed will be performing Wednesday, March 12 at 8:00 pm in the Ira Allen Chapel. Tickets are $39 and $49. Doors open at 7 pm. Tickets are available at the Fleming Museum Store and can be purchased with cash, and/or credit cards Tuesday – Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm, Saturday and Sunday, 1:00pm – 5:00pm. Information (802) 656-0750.

The concert is sponsored by the Robert Hull Fleming Museum, Borderline Irreverent, Seven Days Newspaper, The Lane Series, and SA Concerts. The Robert Hull Fleming Museum, located on the University of Vermont campus on Colchester Avenue in Burlington, houses Vermont’s most comprehensive collection of art and anthropological artifacts.
