Field hockey drops two on the road

The University of Vermont field hockey team dropped its season opener on the road this week at #13 Boston College.

BC drew first blood with a goal just over 13 minutes into the contest, but Vermont senior Maegan Luce answered five minutes later with a goal of her own to tie up the contest.

The Eagles scored again before the second half, and that deficit remained until the last 10 minutes of the game, when Boston College scored twice more to seal the 4-1 victory.

The Cats dropped an 8-2 decsion to Virginia on Friday, Sept. 5

The Catamounts will finally make their home debut with a pair of games at Moulton-Winder Field against Ohio State and Monmouth this upcoming weekend.

In a season dominated by road games, UVM only has five more contests at home following the opening home weekend.

Although the season opened with two losses, don’t expect that trend to continue, as the hungry Catamounts look prepared to fight their way to the top of the America East standings.

The Catamounts earned their first victory of the season on Sunay with a tight 2-1 win over Longwood.

Senior Lauren Burke led UVM with her first career goal and the game-winning goal from junior Megan Maynard.

Vermont looks to carry that momentum into its first home game against Ohio State on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 13.
