Track and Field Team Earns Sixth in Championship

p> Vermont’s Kristal Kostiew finished second in the shot put and junior captain Tee Gingras of Barre, Vt. was second in the 1,000 meters at the second and final day of the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday.

Kostiew threw 46-11 to finish second, just ahead of teammate Sara Lovell, who was third (46-1). Gingras ran the 1,000 in a time of 2:57.14 to finish second.

Other highlights for Vermont included: Michele Palmer finishing sixth in the 3,000 (10:11.10) and Vermont’s 4-by-400 relay team finishing sixth in 4:05.64.

Vermont finished in a tie for sixth with Maine with 60 points. Northeastern won with 163 points, with Boston University second at 114.
