Eating Disorder Awareness Week To Be Marked With Events And Activities On Campus

UVM Center for Health & Wellbeing’s HOPE Team (Help Overcome Problem Eating) is pleased to offer a variety of programs for Eating Disorder Awareness Week from Monday, February 24th through Monday, March 3rd.

Disorder Awareness Week 2003

Monday, February 24th: PBS TV WETK Channel 6 at 10PM

Documentary Film Broadcast: Perfect Illustions: Eating Disorders and the Family. Four young women and their struggles with eating disorders and how their families were affected by it.

This will also be broadcast on Tuesday, 2/25 at 2am and 5am. Wednesday, February 26th: A Day Without Mirrors.

In bathrooms all over campus you will see flyers promoting positive body image and self esteem.

If you see a message you like, take it home with you!

Monday, March 1st: Information Table and Life Size, True to Dimensions Barbie Display sponsored by Student Health Promotion Services and SHAG (Student Health Advisory Group) Stop by Billings Cook Commons between 10 and 1 and pick up information about eating disorders, body image and healthy eating habits.

Take the “Eating Attitudes Test”…you can do this anytime at ww.uvm.edu/health?Page=EatingScreen.html

Individuals can complete this in private as a self evaluation and use it as a helpful self awareness tool.

UVM Counseling Center is sponsoring a Body Image and Self Esteem Group.

Body Image Dinner Discussions coming soon to your Res Hall?

Talk to your RA to arrange one for your area.

Dinner will be provided along with facilitators for lively discussion on a variety of body image topics.

Make A Difference! Get involved by joining together with other concerned students and the HOPE Team.

Help develop new programs, increase awareness on campus about self-perceptions, body image and the media, the issues, signs and factors of eating disorders and ways to help someone you are concerned about.
