Kathy Giusti, Class of ‘80, was named one of Time magazine’s World’s 100 Most Influential People, according to a University Communications article. After being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, she created the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, reported Katie Couric for Time. “Today, 165 million research dollars, four new approved drugs and 13 years later, Kathy is in remission but still pressing scientists and the FDA to work together efficiently,” Couric reported. Giusti was named alongside Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg, phenomenon Justin Bieber and President Barack Obama, according to the Time magazine website.
