Cats Lose 4-1 to Stony Brook

In Women’s tennis, the University of Vermont Catamounts were eliminated from the America East Championship by Stony Brook University. Vermont, the #5 seed, was defeated 4-1 by the #4 seed, Stony Brook. This was only the second time the Catamounts had faced the Seawolves of Stony Brook, since the Seawolves entered the conference. In their previous match on April 12, Stony Brook defeated Vermont, 5-2. The Catamounts lone point was earned by Allie Taylor (Mequon, Wis.) who defeated the Seawolves’ number five singles player Claire Shean, 7-5, 6-2. Battling in the number three doubles slot, Mandy Harrison (Perth, Australia) and Kyna Delaney (North Haven, Conn.) were victorious over Georgia Bushell and Shean, 8-3. Delaney was leading Lauren Conching of Stony Brook, 6-4, 3-2, before the match was called due to the team match being decided. The Catamounts end their season with a record of 6-14. -SportsInfo
