Faculty union offers financial awards

United Academics (UA), the UVM faculty union, is accepting applications through March 1 for two financial awards, UA Communications Director Meg Ashman said. The Jeffrey Brace Book Award provides $500 to an undergraduate for books and supplies, Ashman said. The Linda Backus Memorial Award presents $1,000 to an upperclassman with an immediate family member who is a part of the union in Vermont, she said. “United Academics believes deeply in social and economic justice and wants to honor students who demonstrate involvement in issues related to those values,” Ashman said. Application details and more information about both awards are available on the United Academics website at www.unitedacademics.org.
