UVM took two top honors at the Northeast Greek Leadership Association (NGLA) meeting, University Communications stated. The Greek community was awarded honors in philanthropy and service, with an emphasis in social justice programming, according to University Commutations. “Philanthropy is where money is raised — charitable donations,” Kimberlee Monteaux, assistant director for Greek Life, said. “Service is performed for the benefit of others. There are different levels of both, from shoveling a neighbors driveway to raising money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.” The Greek community has demonstrated social justice programming through their participation with LGBTQA and by raising money for the Outright Vermont Fire Truck Pull, Monteaux said. Additionally, UVM Greek Community received Honorable Mention in the following categories: Panhellenic Recruitment, Panhellenic Public Relations and IFC Council Management, University Communications stated.
