Men’s Tennis Improves 5-4

In men’s tennis, the University of Vermont nipped former America East rival Hofstra, 4-3, on Friday afternoon, and then beat Quinnipiac as well on Saturday. Highlighting the day for the Catamounts were Tom Whittaker, and Jonathan Cooper, who won their singles matches. The Duos of Johann Liljengren/ Matt Spring (Canton, Conn.) and Griffin Maloney/ Tom Whittaker helped put the Cats past the Pride. On Saturday, Vermont won two of the three doubles matches to pick up a point on the Bobcats. The Catamounts also took five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets to close out the victory. -SportsInfo
