Men’s Tennis Ousts Siena 5-2 to Finish Off Regular Season

The UVM men’s tennis team finished their regular season by defeating the Siena Saints, 5-2. It was senior day for the co-captains Zeljko Knezevic and Jon Cooper. The two seniors have been a dynamic duo in the number one doubles spot this season. Knezevic and Cooper defeated Siena’s Johan Michalisin and Ed Roessler, 8-5, finishing the regular season 8-13 together. Knezevic finishes 31-20 overall in singles play, and Cooper in singles action finishes his career 34-40. Highlighting for Vermont were Eric Conway and Ethan Bernstein. The pair battled through a marathon doubles match versus A.J. Eames and Eric Reuter of Siena. Conway and Bernstein won the match 9-7, to earn the Cats the doubles point. In singles, Tom Whittaker, Griffin Maloney, Cooper, and Conway, all contributed to Vermont’s victory, by recording wins. Vermont ends the regular season with a record of 14-12, going an impresive 12-2 at home. Against America East opponents, the Cats are 3-2. The Catamounts now head to the America East Championships to be played April, 25-27, in New Haven, Connecticut at the Connecticut Tennis Center on the campus of Yale University. -SportsInfo
