Patriotism Not Defined By Blind Faith in Mob Mentality

To the Editor: I take exception to Ellen Dobb’s statement that many people volunteered for military service after 9/11. As old as I am, I remember clearly that there were no increases in enlistments reported by the military. As far as this “war” goes, to participate in American imperialism and colonization of the world starting with Iraq is a contradiction to every principle this nation was founded upon. The American public must be very careful concerning who and what they are patriotic to. A true patriot is only patriotic to the Constitution and those politicians who follow their oath of office in support of it. In this case, I vote hell no, I won’t go.Bill Brueckner
