Quarantine makes for strange guilty pleasures. Mine is “Miami Vice.” The guilt is because it’s about cops, but the pleasure is the perfectly balanced main duo. Ricardo Tubbs, a classy, flirtatious, smart New Yorker, finds himself stuck undercover in Miami with Sonny Crockett, a stylish but rough local (who, from my queer point of view, is strongly coded as bi). Within a few episodes, they’re ready to take a bullet for each other. They have each other’s backs, look fantastic together, are usually about six inches apart, and always put their partnership first in the end. Sometimes when I have an episode playing in the background, I find myself saying, “just kiss him already!”
