Bald leaves Vermont basketball program

A UVM Athletics press release announced April 5 that junior guard Brendan Bald will not be returning to the Vermont basketball program next season.

Bald started all 36 games as a team captain for the Catamounts in the 2011-2012 season, helping in their ultimate success as America East Champions.

Bald averaged 7.6 points-per-game, the fourth highest scorer on the team, in his second year as a Catamount starter.

According to the press release, Bald chose to leave the program for academic reasons, his goal being to graduate a semester early in a pursuit to attend law school and enter a career in law.

Bald will, however, remain a student at the University of Vermont going into the next academic year.
