Cat fans have waited 13 years but Vermont is finally back in the Final Four and tonight have a chance to go to the first National Championship in program history.

Standing in the way are the No. 1 Boston University Terriers.  The puck is set to drop at 8:30 p.m.

7:32 P.M. — The Miami RedHawks just finished off a sound beating of Bemidji State, 4-1.  This was Miami’s first trip to the Forzen Four and now Saturday will be their first apperance in the National Championship.

7:57 P.M. — The Cats and Terriers just took the ice.  UVM is wearing their away green jerseys and got a loud welcome chant of “U-V-M U-V-M” from the gathering Catamount supporters.  There is still over 35 minutes to go before the puck drops, but anxiety is already building here.

8:03 P.M. — The Terriers — wearing their home white uniforms — will present by far the stiffest test for the Catamounts this year.  They are not only the No. 1 team in the country but they also come in with two players in the final three for the Hobey Baker in Colin Wilson and Matt Gilroy.  The Cats will have to be on the top of their game to win.

8:15 P.M. — We are under 19 minutes away from the drop of the puck.  UVM’s top line will be lead by center and senior captain Dean Strong with Colin Vock and Wahsontiio Stacey joining him on the wings.  A lot of this game will depend on this lines ability to control the contest.

8:19 P.M. — Against both Yale and Air Force two weeks ago it took the Cats a few minutes to get their feet under them.  During these nervous moments they did not give up any goals but against a team as good as BU they will have to be very careful.

8:33 P.M. — Lineups have been announced and we are just moments away from the drop of the puck.  The stadium is beginning to fill up again and we are about to get started.

8:37 P.M. — We are underway!

8:44 P.M. — Vermont had the first power play of the night but was not able to get a goal.  There are 13 minutes remaining and we are still scoreless.

8:55 P.M. — BU on the board with the first goal of the game and lead 1-0.  A little over 11 minutes into the game the Terriers enter the Cats zone on an odd-man rush and Colin Wilson scored his 16th goal of the year.

8:59 P.M. — Peter Lenes picks up a silly penalty and the Cats are now down a man and down a goal with 6:10 left in the first period.

9:04 P.M. — Just 26 seconds into the BU power play there is a penalty on a Terrier player and we had a four-on-four.  The Cats had a breakaway but Brian Roloff’s shot was saved by Kieran Millan.  Once the Cats were on the power play they had a great chance but the puck rolled just outside the goal-line.

9:07 P.M. — The Cats are now down 2-0.  Right after their power play expired the Terriers got a second goal via Jason Lawrence, his 24 goal of the season.

9:13 P.M. — Vermont goes on the power play with just over two minutes left in the period but they could not get a goal.  They got some shots on net but could not seem to really set up their system.

9:16 P.M. — We have reached the end of the first period and the Cats find themselves trailing 2-0 against the No. 1 Terriers.
