In men’s tennis, Vermont held on to top the defending conference champion Hartford in a tight America East battle, 4-3, on Friday evening.

The key to the win for UVM was besting the Hawks in four of of the six singles matches. Zeljko Knezevic, Matt Spring, Griffin Maloney and Jon Cooper all pick up victories in singles action. The duo of Tom Whittaker and Maloney won Vermont’s lone match in doubles play.

Then on Saturday the men defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 5-2. The win marks the Catamounts 4th win in a row. UVM won 4 of 6 singles matches, and took 2 out of 3 in doubles play. Highlights for the Catamounts again included wins by Zeljko Knezevic, Matt Spring, Griffin Maloney, and Jon Cooper in singles play, and the duos of Cooper/Knezevic and Tom Whittaker/Maloney won took their matches in doubles play.

For the third match of the weekend, Marist College visited the UVM Tennis Facility to take on the very hot Catamounts.

Unfortunately, Marsit blanked the Catamounts, winning 7-0. Vermont’s next match is at Sacred Heart on Friday, February 21st, at 5 p.m.
