Field hockey defeats Siena with second-half goal

 

After a scoreless first half in their game against Siena College this past Sunday, UVM was able to come back with a second half goal and win the game 1-0. Only two minutes into the second half, senior Jenna Horowski was able to get a hard shot on net, and with a deflection by sophomore Taylor Silvestro, UVM got on the board. With good solid play the Catamounts kept the lead till the final whistle.

 

Men’s hockey falls to New Brunswick

 

The University of New Brunswick was able to break through with six minutes left in the game. The Varsity Reds were able to score two more goals making it 3-0 with only 70 seconds to play. The Catamounts were able to score two goals within those remaining 70 seconds, making the score 3-2.  Vermont goals were scored by first year Connor Brickley and junior Matt Marshall.

 

Late Dartmouth rally drops men’s soccer

 

Vermont took the lead early when junior forward Nick O’Neill scored only three minutes into the game. Dartmouth College was able to get on the board just two minutes later, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie. In the 31st minute of the first half, UVM was awarded a free kick, which was taken by senior Juan Peralta. Peralta lofted the kick into the middle, where junior Yannick Lewis was able to finish the goal making the game 2-1 in the Catamounts favor. The Catamounts couldn’t hold the lead.  Dartmouth scored two goals in the final minutes of the game and Vermont was not able to come back. This loss brings Vermont to 6-3-3 overall on the season.
