Spillane is Hockey East’s Defensive Player of the Week
The Hockey East association made the announced to Mike Spillane as the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.
The senior goalie made 33 saves in a 3-0 men’s ice hockey victory over Providence, last Sunday. The victory gave Spillane his first shutout in 26 career appearances.
Hockey East also recognized junior Justin Milo and freshman Chris McCarthy.

The two forwards were named to the Hockey East top performance list.  Milo had three goals on the weekend, while McCarthy notched one and assist against Providence.

Women’s Hockey earns first victory in Hockey East play
The University of Vermont overwhelmed the Boston College Eagles with a 5-1 victory in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
UVM’s four power-play goals proved too much for the Eagles.
The Lady Cats saw their freshmen shining in the victory.
Three freshmen found the back of the net: Emily Walsh netted two in the game while Maggie Walsh and Erin Wente both added scores — Senior captain Chelsea Furlani also scored.
UVM’s defense was just as impressive as the offense.  UVM killed their 20 th -straight penalty and moved to four consecutive games without conceding a power -play goal.
UVM will look to add many more victories to this one as Hockey East play continues.
