The Cynic Covers The Bash at the Stash

We came for the snowboarding and stayed for the free burgers.

Joking aside, TheCynic’s video team (video guy, really) filmed the Burton Flagship Stores Bash at the Stash Intercollegiate rail jam last Friday, Feb. 15.

For three hours, riders from UVM, St. Michael’s and Champlain College battled it out for the top three spots in male and female categories as a small but enthusiastic crowd cheered them on.

Recent graduates from all three colleges were selected by Burton to judge the participants on the consistency and creativity of each rider’s run, with an extra category added for most creative use of space, Burton retail and events coordinator Morgan Bennett said.

Although Champlain College was ultimately crowned the Best Institution of Higher Shreducation, UVM’s own Sam Watson, junior, came in first for men’s while first-year Gina Frontino took first place and junior Holly Greenleaf took third on the women’s side.

Junior John Welch was chosen as the rider who had the most creative use of space and walked away with a GoPro camera.

First place winners received snowboards, second place winners took home bindings and those rounding out the top were awarded jackets, all courtesy of Burtons Flagship Store.
