New App seeks to improve student voter participation

Lachlan Francis presented a proposal for the use of an app called Voatz in the upcoming SGA elections. Voatz is an app that uses fingerprints  to provide a new platform to vote.

Talks are already in progress with the city of Burlington to possibly use the app to improve student input in mayoral and elections, as participation is very low.

Bill changing name of Women of Color Coalition

A bill was passed approving the name change from Women of Color Coalition to Womyn of Color Coalition, in an effort to be more inclusive of non-gender binary members.    

Bill Allocating Funds to Nordic Ski Team

The Nordic Ski Team requested $18,757 from SGA to attend the national competition in Bend, Oregon. SGA approved the allocation of $7,750 for the trip.

It’s On Us

UVM has officially partnered with It’s On Us and Culture of Respect, two organizations aimed at preventing sexual assault on college campuses.

April is sexual violence awareness month. UVM’s It’s On Us campaign will include events throughout the month, such as self-defense classes and a screening of the “Hunting Ground,” a documentary exposing the reality of sexual assault on college campuses.
