The men’s lacrosse team traveled to Pawtucket this past Saturday and played against the UMass Lowell River Hawks.
The Cats opened up scoring early, as sophomore Tristan Whitaker found the back of the net in the game’s opening 51 seconds. The Catamounts converted four more goals in the period, giving them a strong 5-1 lead after the first.
The second quarter continued the Catamount scoring. Vermont converted five goals from five different scorers, giving themselves a 10-3 advantage heading into the halftime break.
The Vermont attack remained for the rest of the game, along with a strong defensive presence that shut down any chance of a threat from the River Hawks. Sophomore defender Ryker Demarest led the defensive attack, causing three turnovers throughout the night.
The River Hawks converted five goals in the final quarter, but the final push was not enough, with the Catamounts heading home with a strong 18-9 victory.
The Catamounts look to cap off their regular season with a win as they host the University of Maryland Baltimore County April 27 at 12 p.m.
