Niki Taylor nets 1,000 career points

One Catamount placed herself in the UVM women’s basketball record books Jan 25.

Though the Cats lost to UMass-Lowell 72-63, Senior Niki Taylor netted the 1,000th point of her career. This puts Taylor among a list of 20 other Catamounts to reach the milestone, according to UVM athletics.

“This is a great accomplishment for Niki. Her career has been pretty steady overall,”  Head Coach Lori Gear McBride said. “I think that at times we have asked an awful lot from her and she has handled those expectations really well.”

Despite reaching the milestone, Taylor said her focus is still the same: winning games.

“Scoring 1,000 points is an accomplishment that I am proud of, and I am honored to be in an elite group of players at Vermont,”  Taylor said.  “Winning games is my focus. My attention is on what I can do as a player to help my team win.”

After losing a home contest 89-48 against the University of Albany Jan. 29, the Cats will play again Feb. 4 against Stony Brook University.
