Women’s basketball falls in America East playoffs
In their semifinal matchup against Hartford this Sunday, March 10, the Catamounts found themselves unable to climb out the hole after mustering just eight points in the first half and ultimately losing 64-33.
Senior Lauren Buschmann led the team in scoring with ten. The America East All-Conference Third-Team and All-Academic selection went 3-for-3 from the field, 4-for-5 from the line, as well as adding three rebounds and two blocks. Sophomore Nikki Taylor provided the majority of the Catamount offense in the first half putting in six points as Hartford built a 35-8 lead. Hartford forced 19 turnovers over the first twenty minutes and held Vermont to just 26.7 percent shooting. Despite a stronger second half scoring 25, it simply was not enough to overcome that deficit. Vermont finished the game shooting 37.1 percent from the field. Hartford moves on to the America East Championship next weekend. Vermont finishes the season with a record of 10-21, 6-10 in America East.
