Heading into their final regular season contest, the Catamounts needed to secure a victory against the University at Albany Great Danes in order to keep their postseason chances alive.
The Catamounts would deliver in fashion, leaving Bob Ford Field with a 3-0 victory.
The first 45 minutes provided even play on both sides, with UAlbany outshooting UVM 7-6. However, the Catamounts would provide the half’s lone goal with junior midfielder Bailey Ayer converting a free kick in the 16th minute.
After an even first half, the second half was all Catamounts. UVM outshot UAlbany 9-1 in the second half, and won the possession battle as well. Junior forward Kate Bossert found the back of the net in the 47th minute, tallying her tenth goal of the season.
Sophomore midfielder Sydney Remington continued the offensive production for UVM. Less than one minute after entering the match, Remington would score off an assist from fifth year defender Fiona Doherty, giving UVM a comfortable 3-0 lead.
The Catamounts continued their strong defensive stand in the final 15 minutes. UAlbany would receive two yellow cards and one red card in the remaining minutes of the match.
The Catamounts look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Durham, NH for the first round of the America East Playoffs to face the No. 3 UNH Wildcats on Oct. 30 at 6 p.m.
