After a historic postseason push, the UVM women’s basketball team saw their season end in the NIT Fab Four round against the Saint Louis University Billikens.
The Catamounts clicked on all facets in the first half. Graduate forward Delaney Richason played a role in the offensive attack, scoring seven points in the opening two quarters.
Defensively, the Catamounts continued to push against the Billikens. They held Saint Louis to just 17 points on 24% shooting in the opening 20 minutes.
After a struggling first half, the experienced Billiken team battled back. While the Vermont offense continued to click, with the Catamounts converting on 48.3% of their field goals, Saint Louis posted a scorching 66.7% shooting throughout the second half.
With the Saint Louis offense finding great success, the Catamounts found themselves down eight points with just under three minutes remaining in the game. The Cats battled back, but the Billikens stayed composed and held on to claim the 57-54 win.
Despite the loss, this Catamount season will be one to remember. This year’s squad posted a second straight season of 25 wins. Additionally, they made their furthest postseason push in school history. This season should provide the squad with plenty to look forward to going into the 2024-25 season.
