Larner College of Medicine student dies unexpectedly
Collins Oguejiofor, a UVM sophomore in the Larner College of Medicine, has died unexpectedly.
Oguejiofor was about to begin a clinical clerkship at Larner’s Connecticut branch campus when he died, according to a June 24 email to the Larner community from Richard Page, dean of the Larner College.
“We know we speak for the entire community when we extend our deepest condolences to Collins’ family,” Page stated in the email. “Our sincere thoughts of care and sympathy also go out to his classmates, friends, faculty and staff who knew and worked with him.”
Though no details about services or memorials for Oguejiofor have yet been shared, support will be available for UVM community members, the email stated.
“Additional communication about online meetings of support for the Class of 2022 and other members of our community will be forthcoming,” Page stated.
The University also encourages students to reach out to UVM’s Counseling and Psychiatry Services as a source of care and support.
