After losing 3-2 against America East opponent, the Maine Black Bears, on Sunday the 6-3 Catamounts looked to stay undefeated at home against the Siena College Saints.
UVM came out of the first-half guns blazing, racking up 13 shots compared to Siena’s three. It was Siena, however, who got points on the scoreboard first, as first-year forward Megan Stowell put the score at 1-0 13 minutes in. Siena neutralized Vermont’s offensive attack with seven saved shots.
At the start of the second half, Vermont started to find cracks in Siena’s defense. Junior forward Kate Bossert tied the match three minutes into the second half. Bossert then helped to gain the lead by assisting senior forward Jill Brody.
Vermont was able to keep their momentum throughout the second half, again leading Siena in shots and corner kicks. Grad student goalkeeper Erin Murphy was locked down in the second half, keeping the net empty until the buzzer sounded off on the 3-2 victory.
UVM, now 4-0 at Virtue Field, look to keep their winning streak alive as they face the America East member Bryant University Bulldogs on September 28.
