SGA Meeting: April 8

Members of SGA listened to a presentation regarding STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System at UVM. The presentation explained what the system is, and why UVM chose it. The University is part of the STARS program based off a recommendation made to President Sullivan in the Envisioning Environment proposal. The proposal outlined recommendations of where the University should invest their time and money in relation to the environment.

SGA members allocated $2,550 to the freestyle skiing team so that they can go to a regional competition. The competition occurred in the week prior, and the money was a reimbursement. This amount reflected a 15 percent deduction from the original $3,000 that SGA was willing to give to the group. This deduction was due to the fact that the team did not show up to the SGA meeting in the prior week.

UVM staff members are deciding whether or not to unionize. SGA had a conversation amongst themselves on whether or not they will submit a resolution in support of the faculty unionization. No conclusions were reached.
