The Roots will perform at Springfest 2011

It has been confirmed that The Roots are going to play at UVM Springfest 2011. “It is true … that The Roots are going to be at Springfest this year along with Thievery Corporation,” SA Concerts President Jenna Gabriel said. SA Concerts is in charge of planning and coordinating the acts for UVM Springfest. The Roots MySpace page describes them as a fusion of funk, hip-hop and soul. Senior Ben Chussid said he thinks that The Roots are a good choice for Springfest. “I think it’s great [The Roots] are coming,” Chussid said. “They have tunes everyone can, and will, appreciate and a dynamic rhythm section that will be sure to get everyone moving.” Thievery Corporation is a genre-mixing DJ duo. Their song “Lebanese Blonde” appeared the film Garden State. Springfest 2011 will also feature a third act, which has yet to be decided. “We are looking for another act currently and when that act is figured out, I will let everyone know,” Gabriel said. More information about Springfest 2011 will be available in the next issue of The Cynic.
