Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity (Pike) raised $1,105 during their bike-a-thon to support The Mikey’s Way Foundation on Jan. 25 and 26, Pike Community Service Chair Zach Wisniewski said. The money will buy toys for hospitals that care for children who are receiving long-term cancer treatment, Wisniewski said. “We want to thank everyone that donated what they could — sometimes it was only a dime or a quarter — because every little bit helped us achieve what we did for the foundation,” he said. This event was very personal to the group, as one of the brothers knew Mikey well, Wisniewski said. “This definitely hit home for him, which caused it to be very important to all us Pikes,” he said. Raising this amount of money will give the children the opportunity to choose their own gifts, he said.
