Cox Nets Four for Women’s LAX

Vanessa Cox (Newton, Mass.) scored four goals, giving her 33 for the season, but the University of Vermont women’s lacrosse team was outscored 12-4 in the second half in a 15-9 non-league loss at LeMoyne Saturday. The Catamounts, 3-7 overall, took a 5-3 lead at the half on the strength of three goals from Cox and single tallies from Sarah Booker and Holly Seifert. LeMoyne, 7-4, tied the game in the first minute of the second half on goal from Megan Keddy and Amanda Daniels, and then saw Vermont retake the lead on a goal by Ali Aucoin. LeMoyne then ran off four straight goals and then scored the final five goals of the game to post the 15-9 win. Other goal-scorers for Vermont were Erin Hall and Sara Talbot. Cox and Caitlin Fitzpatrick also recorded assists for the Catamounts. Daniels led LeMoyne with four goals, while Tara Walberger and Keddy had three each. In goal, Vermont’s Kate McBride recorded 19 saves, while Erica Henderson and Brandy Payne combined for eight for LeMoyne. The Catamounts next play at home on Friday when they host Boston University at 4:00pm. They will conclude the regular season Sunday, April 27th with an 11:00am game against Stony Brook. -SportsInfo
