Men’s Frisbee Receives Sanction

The UVM men’s ultimate frisbee team received a sanction at the SGA meeting Feb.25 for bullying and the harassment of its members. UVM Voice received an anonymous tip regarding the matter explaining that first-year Colby Rackliff and other students had been receiving explicit emails from the team’s list server, according to the sanction. The punishment was given to the 37 members of the team and included a two-week suspension period and a team total of 150 hours of community service, according to an email sent to the Senate by Adam Kaufman, chair of the Student Activities Committee. When this incident occurred, 35 of the active team members were away at a competition in San Diego, senior captain Micah Botkin-Levy said. “We, as captains, we’re at fault, along with the two team members who did actually have a part in the email thread and were not with us,” Botkin-Levy said. “The rest of the team shouldn’t be punished because it wasn’t their fault.” The incident is currently still under investigation by UVM police services. The Cynic will publish more information as it becomes available.
