New board of trustees chair selected

A longtime UVM board of trustees member has officially been chosen to replace the current the board chair, who will be retiring within the coming month, President Thomas Sullivan said.Deborah McAneny is now set to replace Robert Cioffi as chair of the University?s board of trustees, Sullivan said. “Deb is one of the most committed and intelligent people I’ve ever met,? SGA president Connor Daley said. ?She’ll lead the board excellently. Plus, she’s the definition of fierce.”Fellow board member David Daigle will now serve as vice-chair alongside McAneny, Sullivan said.McAneny has served on the board since 2004. An alumnus of the University, she received her bachelor?s degree in business management in 1981, according to the board of trustees website.Daigle, a 1989 graduate of UVM, has been a self-perpetuating member of the Board since 2010 and is currently the senior vice president of the Capital Group Companies, Inc., the website stated. ?Rob’s been on the board for 12 years and chair for four, which is a very long run,? Sullivan said. ?Debbie has been on the board 10 years, she’s been vice chair and chair of business and finance, so she is very experienced.?The Board roles will officially transition at their meeting on March 17, Sullivan said.
