Sorority sends intoxicated members to Fletcher Allen Hospital

Three members of the sorority Delta Delta Delta were hospitalized Saturday night at Fletcher Allen due to intoxication, according to the Burlington Free Press.

The incident occurred on the way to the sorority’s winter formal event at the Old Lantern in Charlotte, according to the police report.

The members used a chartered bus to attend the formal event. The bus driver became concerned about the intoxicated students before their arrival at the venue, Patrol Sgt. Maurice Lamothe said to the Burlington Free Press.

The bus driver called police when the students got sick near U.S. 7 and F-5. Rides to the hospital were secured for the sorority members upon arrival at the Charlotte parking lot.

The students were shortly transported to and treated at Fletcher Allen Hospital, rescue officials said to the
Burlington Free Press. Shelburne, Charlotte and Vergennes rescue squads responded to the scene with ambulances.

Both Burlington and UVM Police Services were alerted in addition to Vermont Liquor Control investigators. An ongoing investigation of this event is currently underway.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
