Women’s Basketball Drops Two to Fall 2-3

Maine handed Vermont its worst America East loss in head coach Keith Cieplicki’s tenure, 64-38. It was also Maine’s biggest margin of victory since March 9, 1996 when the Black Bears defeated the Cats 88-55 in the conference finals. The Black Bears also outscored Vermont 34-6 in the paint in the second half. Sophomore Katie McNamara (Essex Junction, Vt.) was Vermont’s lone player to reach double-figures in the scoring column (11 pts). Junior Theresa LaRocque added eight points, five assists and four rebounds in the contest. On Saturday afternoon’s loss to Hartford, Morgan Hall (Hanover, NH) was Vermont’s leading scorer, netting a game-high 23 points, grabbing five rebounds and handing out four assists. Sophomores Lani Boardman (York, Maine) and McNamara added 11 and 13 points, respectively. The Cats will take on UNH this Wednesday at 7:00pm at the Patrick Gymnasium. -SportsInfo
