Mari Creatini scored the first two goals of the game and Liane Dixon added a goal and an assist to lead the top-seeded Northeastern Huskies to a 5-0 victory over #4 Vermont in the semifinals of the America East FieldHockey Championships.
The Huskies, ranked seventh in the nation, out shot UVM 24-4 in the contest. Vermont’s Holly Colberg made nine saves in net for the Catamounts, while Emily Roy made just two stops for Northeastern.
Northeastern (16-3) advances to the championship game on Sunday, November 10 at 2:00pm and will play the winner of the second semifinal between New Hampshire and Maine.
Vermont, making its first America East Playoff appearance in a decade, ends the season at 7-13. Senior Shawn Carney and junior Amanda Paquette were selected to the all-tournament team.
