(She/her) Meredith Gayanilo is a first-year sustainability, ecology, & policy major with a minor in reporting & document storytelling from Corpus Christi, TX. She started at the Cynic in fall 2025 as a news writer and is now serving as assistant news editor for the spring 2026 semester.

Meredith is drawn to the spontaneous nature of news writing and values its role in keeping students and community members informed about what is happening around them. Meredith developed her passion through The Waldron Street Journal, the high school paper at Flour Bluff High School, where she began as a staff writer in 2021, later served as an editor, and was editor-in-chief her senior year. 

Outside of the Cynic, Meredith is involved with the Patrick Leahy Honors College Student Empowerment Action Committee and participates in Club Swim, Percussion Ensemble, and the Symphony Orchestra.
