 As the Globetrotters continued their centennial tour, the “magicians” of basketball took over UVM’s own Patrick Gym on April 21. The world-famous team brought the energy, talent and fun legacy the world has been in awe of for a century. 

High-flying dunks, trick shots and crazy dribble moves were just the beginning. 

The show brought in Vermonters from all generations, filling the stands with excited fans for their first visit to the state since 2023. Interactions between the players and fans created an even stronger performance.  

The show is way more than just a basketball game: most attendees were involved in the tricks and bits that made up the Harlem Globetrotters show. 

This connection did not end once the clock hit zero. The Globetrotters spent time signing autographs, taking selfies and speaking with fans. 

I am grateful to have experienced this show and can say there was never a point where I stopped smiling. 

The Harlem Globetrotters are truly a legacy that has shaped basketball and continues to break barriers and world records.

(She/her) Sarah Koegler is a junior public communications major with a concentration in journalism and media and a co-major in business administration. She is from Savannah, GA and is the co-photo editor for the Cynic.  She first joined the cynic in spring 2024 as an opinion staff writer and staff photographer. In spring 2025, she started as assistant photo editor and then stepped up to the photo editor position in fall 2025. Sarah has been working in photography for many years. She also works with UVM Athletics as a Creative media intern, taking photos and videos and creating graphics for their 18 division I sports.  Sarah is most drawn to photojournalism because she feels photos are a universal language that can be interpreted and understood by all. Photography can be used to give voices to the voiceless, spotlighting details in the world that can not be fully explained through words. She works specifically with sports, documentary, nature and street photography.  Outside of the cynic, Sarah is a part of UVM Women’s Club Basketball, UVM Program Board, enjoys playing guitar and writing music and playing card games.
