On February 9, 2019, over 250 students and friends of UVM gathered in the Davis Center Grand Maple Ballroom to celebrate the Lunar New Year in style. The event was organized by the Asian Student Union and featured student and professional performers, a large buffet of tasty Asian dishes, and an assortment of traditional Lunar New Year activities, like decorative paper cutting for window displays to usher in good luck. The Lunar New Year is an important holiday in many Asian cultures and is celebrated differently across the region. Many at UVM, international and Asian American students, along with many people just hoping to learn and celebrate, came together to partake in the evening’s exciting festivities and honor the holiday’s rich traditions.
