Two people have been shot during what police call a “shootout” on North Willard Street.

The University sent out CatAlerts around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon stating Burlington Police was investigating an “ongoing incident” close to University Place and Colchester Avenue.

Burlington Police responded to the shooting and towed a vehicle from Colchester Avenue that is related to the incident, according to a statement from Chief Brandon del Pozo.

Two people were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, and police will give an update once more information is gathered, del Pozo stated.

UVM sent out a final CatAlert just before 5:00 p.m. stating the intersection around University Place and Colchester Avenue was reopened.
