We started off 2026 making more headway on our three Senate-wide goals. We are excited to continue our momentum in the spring semester.
Goal #1: Expanding support amid the current political climate
Our Student Action and Wellbeing and Public Relations committees are preparing for this semester’s Week of Kindness, which will take place from Feb. 9 to 13. A schedule of programming can be found on UVM Bored. SGA is proud to host two Week of Kindness events this year to support our student body.
Goal #2: Leading sexual violence prevention efforts
We created and dropped off this semester’s care packages at the Office of Equal Opportunity for individuals involved in the Title IX process.
Our Committee on Our Common Ground Values is also busy developing initiatives for Sexual Violence Awareness Month in April and formed a temporary committee this month.
Goal #3: Enhancing SGA operations and increasing our visibility
We ended last semester with our Town Hall event on Dec. 3. We enjoyed answering questions and look forward to holding another Town Hall this semester to engage directly with students.
Additionally, our Academic Affairs Committee hosted the Week of Wellness during finals week, including Coffee and Cram, “Dirty Sodas” during Late Night Breakfast and snacks in the SGA Galaxy Space all week.
Our Club Affairs Committee ran Winter ActivitiesFest from Jan. 20 to 22, giving both clubs and students the chance to get more involved on campus and meet new people.
We held our first SGA pop-up event of the semester to connect with the student body in Central Campus Dining Hall on Jan. 28. Our second pop-up event is on Feb. 12 in Kalkin Hall with donuts, and we would love to hear from you.
Our Committee on the Environment held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the new drinking fountain in Wing/Davis/Wilks. This took place on Feb. 2 and celebrates the commitment and passion of committee chair Matisse Arnone.
Looking Ahead
We are holding SGA midterm elections from Feb. 2 to Feb. 6. We encourage all students to look through the platforms and cast their vote here!
Our Finance Committee has been holding Budget Advising Sessions in preparation for club budgets being due Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. If you have any questions about this process, make sure to attend one of these sessions at the times listed on our Instagram.

Please stop by our office, located on the third floor of the Davis Center in the SGA Galaxy Space, with any questions or concerns you may have. We hold office hours every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Additionally, our weekly meetings take place on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the Livak Ballroom, and they are open to all students.
