Trimboli questionable for AEast tournament opener

In order to reach the potential rematch with Binghamton in the conference championship, Vermont must be in rhythm and at full strength.

According to UVM’s Athletic Communications, that is not the case as of right now, considering leading scorer and senior captain Mike Trimboli suffers from a viral illness.

The illness kept him out of last weekends game at Maine and his question is in status for Saturdays quartfinals game against Albany.

“Mike Trimboli was held out of last weekend’s game to speed the recovery of a viral illness. He continues to improve daily, but his status for this weekend’s quarterfinal match-up vs. Albany is questionable.” head athletic trainer Alison Shepard said in a statement.

Trimboli leads the team in scoring, assists and steals in conference play.

His absence will require reserve guards junior Nick Vier and sophomore Joey Accaoui to step their games in increased minutes. Against Maine both Vier and Accaoui played over 30 minutes and combined for 22 points.
