Men’s hockey predicted to finish 6th in Hockey East

The University of Vermont men’s hockey team was picked sixth in the Hockey East Preseason Coaches’ Poll released today at the league’s media day at the TD Garden. Boston College was picked to finish first in the conference, and are also ranked No. 1 in the country according to the AP/USA Today Polls. Maine was picked second followed by New Hampshire, Boston University and Northeastern.

Men’s hockey played dismissed

David Pecan, a sixth-round NHL Draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks, has been dismissed from the team for an unspecified violation of the school’s student-athlete code of conduct. Pecan led Vermont first years with seven goals last season and was expected to make a large impact this season. Pecan can still transfer to another school, sign a pro deal or return to junior hockey.
