Black Bears Out-Swim Cats

Freshman Kristen Elsmore won both the one- and three-meter diving competitions and junior Greg Baxter won the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM as the Catamounts competed at the University of Maine Saturday.

The Maine men defeated Vermont, 147-85, while the Black Bear women won, 176-124.

Elsmore, who qualified for the ECAC Championships in both diving events last weekend, won the one-meter diving with 210.08 points and the three-meter diving

with 207.00 points. Baxter touched first in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.44) and the 200 IM (2:15.68).

Other winners for Vermont included: freshman Monica Jaferian in the 100 backstroke (1:04.76); Erin Burke in the 50 free (26.32); Ivan Kolleeny in the 100 free (54.19); Stephen Fennessy in the 200 backstroke (2:08.14); and Matt Egbers inthe three-meter diving (193.13 points).
