Multiple collisions reported on Carrigan Drive

A pedestrian was injured in an accident involving a UVM CATS bus, according to UVM Police.

A CatAlert was sent out to the UVM community Aug, 27 at 11:45 am, advising pedestrians and vehicles to seek alternate routes due to an accident on Carrigan Drive near the Jeffords parking lot.

Deputy Chief of UVM Police Tim Bilodeau said that UVM Police is investigating the accident involving the pedestrian with help from the Burlington Police Department and the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles.

The pedestrian involved was taken to the hospital with injuries, but the extent of those injuries could not be released at this time and it can not be confirmed if the individual is a UVM affiliate, Bilodeau said.

While UVM Police were investigating the initial accident a second collision occurred nearby on Carrigan drive involving a UVM utility truck and a different UVM CATS bus, he said.

UVM Police hope to wrap up the investigation within the next week and as more details become available they will be shared with the UVM community, Bilodeau said.

UVM Police advises all pedestrians to look both ways before crossing roads around campus.

Multiple collisions have been reported on Carrigan Drive near the Given and Jefford’s parking lots, according to UVM Police.

At least one Cat transportation bus is involved in the two separate collisions. Deputy Chief Tim Bilodeau, who was on the scene, said it is unclear if there are any injuries but currently accident reconstruction is underway.

One bus driver, who declined to provide his name, said that a UVM utility truck backed into his bus following the first accident.
