A recent alumna became the second player ever signed in a new professional hockey league for women called the National Women’s Hockey League.

Amanda Pelkey graduated this year and left the University of Vermont as the all-time leading scorer for the women’s hockey team, amassing 49 goals and 56 assists for a total of 105 points in 127 career games played.

She became the second player to sign a professional contract with the league, days after Austrian Janine Weber signed with the New York Riveters, according to NWHL.co.

The 22-year-old forward and former captain of the University of Vermont Catamounts will debut on the professional stage in the fall of 2015.
