The University has chosen a speaker for this year’s commencement.

Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation, will speak at this year’s ceremony, according to a Feb. 5 email from President Tom Sullivan.

“I am pleased that Mr. Walker will be with us on Commencement Day 2019 to share his timely perspectives from his distinguished and storied career,” Sullivan stated.

Walker attended the University of Texas at Austin for his undergraduate career and later attended the same university for his graduate law degree.

He has been featured in Time’s annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, Rolling Stone’s 25 People Shaping the Future, Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative People and OUT Magazine’s Power 50, according to Sullivan’s email.
